about

This is a stripped down acoustic version of our single "Beacon". It felt natural to do this during the winter time. Our drummer had left the group and we had an emptiness inside of us that we needed to express. The feeling of defeat and loss is what this version of the track embodies. We miss you being in the band Bryan... goodbye dear friend.

The song “Beacon” is about being pressured to be a good role model to others when you don’t see yourself that way. A beacon is a warning signal that is set up high so people can be notified of a danger ahead or approaching. I am now on a pedestal and will be seen for everything I am. My mistakes, my triumphs, they will be showcased to the world. Am I ready? Refer to Matthew 5:14 of the King James Version of the bible for more information. It’s also a song about how no matter how much you change as a person and grow you will still be seen for what you said and did in the past. Certain people can only see you as one version of yourself. You can do many great things in life, but there will be people who only recognize you for your past self and will always see you as such. “You’re slippin’ Jimmy!” – Chuck McGill. I also still see that in myself. The shitty and obnoxious person I was in high school. I can’t forget how mean me and my group of friends were to everyone in school. We said and did shitty things and that’s something that will never change and will follow me for the rest of my life. I’ve accepted it and have changed but it will still be a part of my history never to be erased. All the while at the time claiming to be a Christian until the age of 18. A hypocritical double life that I think many of us have lived.

lyrics

Highlight those bad days
As a rotten youth
No, they don’t go away
They define you
Try to forget the frays
You’ve fought on through
Past meets present day
The future’s doomed
Forever I will change
And breathe anew
Time-lapse marks the ways
We all have moved
Waves of light are embraced
In a winter tomb
Open the clouds go away
The sun rays bloom

In the sky
The beacon on the hill shines

Running around in circles
As the clock ticks by
Searching for opportunities
That you can’t find
Fate brought you to speak for us
For all man-kind
Weighing in on the world’s
Mass decline

Doubt yourself feeling all
That you’ve felt
Thoughts burned deep in your sleep
Your mind is now at rest you think

Be more than you are
We’ll reshape you
Into what we think
Will define you
Try to grasp your roots
They tear at you
Nostalgia floods your moods
It distracts you

Spaced out years
Far beyond the exosphere

You won’t find
What you want
From me
You won’t find
The truth
Keep on searching

Pressured to be the one
Who sees the light
Ears come near to hear
The warning cries
If only they knew what
Brews inside my mind
Thoughts of leaving earth
Deep down inside

I don’t feel
Like a beacon on the hillside
I must still
Fight against my free will yes

Fuck you

The band’s origins start humbly at a local Baptist church that the lead singer and rhythm guitarist, Carlos, attended with his family a year after he was born in 1997. He met the drummer Bryan and they joined the worship team. They then recruited Hector, a high school friend to join their own band. Thus The Crab Is In Everyone was born... ... more
